Carbon Monoxide Alarms
Did you know that every year, two hundred people die and serveral thousands are treated in hospitals for carbon monoxide poisoning. Co is a odorless, tasteless and colorless poisonous gas that can be in your home. If you have any wood burning, gas burning or oil burning appliances in your home, YOU NEED TO HAVE A CO DETECTOR!
All homes should have at least one Co detector outside the master bedroom. It is recommended that you have one on every floor of your home, however, if you are only interested in getting one, make sure it is installed near your master bedroom. If Co leaks into the house in the middle of the night, you would be the one to hear the alarm.
If you currently have a carbon monoxide detector in your home, make sure that it is still good. There is an EXPIRATION date on Co detectors that is usually 3-5 years. Also, make sure that you change your batteries every year!
